Celebrate With Your Classmates and Professors

Below is a list of departments and programs that are planning virtual celebrations for their graduates. More information will be added as these events are planned. All times listed are Central Daylight Time (CDT). Contact your department or program for further details.

African & African-American Studies

Invities everyone to visit a special page on their website celebrating their graduates, which includes a special video highlighting faculty and graduating majors. 

Art History & Archaeology

Thursday, May 20, 2:00-2:45 p.m.

Graduating seniors and their families are invited to a prize and recognition ceremony at which each senior will be recognized with a faculty member says a few words about them. The department will then award five different prizes to deserving seniors selected by the faculty. 

Chemistry

Wednesday, May 19, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

A virtual recognition and awards ceremony for all graduating majors and minors. For Zoom access click here. 

Classics & Ancient Studies

Thursday, May 20, 11:00 a.m.

Will host a Zoom reception for majors and minors in Classics & Ancient Studies and their MA graduates. Please register to attend

Comparative Literature

Students will be featured on the department website. They will also receive personal gifts and notes from faculty and staff.

Education

Tuesday, May 18, 11:00-12:00 p.m.

The Chair of the department will begin with some opening statements, then the Director of Undergraduate Studies will read the names of graduating English majors and English minors, and the celebration will end with a send-off from the faculty. Join the celebration here

Film and Media Studies

Thursday, May 20, 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Please join us for a synchronous zoom celebration for our Film and Media Studies graduates. Students, parents, families, and friends are invited! We will have comments from FMS faculty and students, videos, a toast, and more. Please join us to honor your achievements! Please register in advance.

French

Wednesday, May 19, 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Will host a Zoom celebration for graduating French majors and minors. Please register in advance

Germanic Languages and Literatures

Students will be featured on the department website, facebook and instagram pages. They will also receive personal gifts and notes from faculty and staff.

History

Graduates and prize-winners will be recognized on the departmental website and social media. Personalized notes will also be sent individually to graduates.

Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies

Friday, May 14, 3:00 p.m. 

The Philosophy department will hold a celebration honoring the class of 2021. Please register to attend.

Physics

A department celebration and recognition of all graduating students and a presentation of awards.  Please register to attend

Political Science

Wednesday, May 19, 3:00-4:00 p.m.

A department celebration in which department awards will be announced, all graduating majors and minors will be recognized, and there will be an opportunity to talk with faculty in Zoom breakout rooms. Join the celebration here

Psychological & Brain Sciences

Thursday, May 20, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. 

From 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. the virtual celebration will include remarks from Dr. Green, Dr. Barch, and a video with name recognition. From about 2:00-3:00 p.m,  graduates and their families are invited to join open Zoom meetings with various faculty and instructors. Please register in advance for the main celebration, and watch your email for the faculty and instructor open Zoom meeting links.

Sociology 

Friday, May 21, 3:00-4:30 p.m.

Please join the faculty and staff of the Washington University Department of Sociology in celebrating the Class of 2021 with a Virtual Commencement Celebration, to be held via Zoom. Each major and minor will be recognized during this event, which will conclude with a post-ceremony "toast" to the accomplishments and futures of our graduates. Students will receive mailed "Senior Send-Off" packages with additional details regarding this event.  All Sociology graduates, continuing students, friends, family, and guests are welcome to attend; however, advance registration is requested

Spanish
